Houston. I've only lived here a month, but this city had begun to feel like home. What has happened the last few days can only be described as catastrophic. It's bad here guys. Really bad. If you can help in any way please do! In only a month I've learned a lot about the people of this city and about this community. I have no doubt that Houston will rebuild. Bit by bit, house by house and neighborhood by neighborhood. Whenever something happens in the world that I can't explain to my kids I always remember Mr. Rogers saying that his Mom would tell him to "find the helpers," and it's what I've told my kids many times. Today we actually got to be the helpers. When we arrived to gather and deliver donations to the shelters and the victims of Hurricane Harvey the parking lot was overflowing, and the donations were piling in. The helpers were everywhere. They were standing in the pouring rain smiling to give their time, their donations and much needed hugs. It was a lesson for all of us in love and community. A lesson I hope my children take with them for the rest of their lives. The last thing I tell Caroline and Lauren when I drop them off for school every day is "be kind." If I fail in all other aspects of parenting I pray that I succeed in raising kind helpers. The type of people we were fortunate enough to both serve with and help today. Houstonians are strong. The water will recede, and the city and the people will rise. I'm truly so proud to be a part of this city and this community.

Here are a few shirts and a wonderful jewelry company that are sending all or a percentage of the profits to help out with Houston and the coastal towns that were hit so hard. Anything helps. Thank you friends!

This shirt is from Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper. All proceeds from the sale of this shirt will go to the Hurricane Harvey disaster relief.

100% of the net proceeds from this God Bless Texas shirt will go straight to The Hurricane Harvey relief fund through the Red Cross. This is a preorder with a planned ship date of Friday, September 1st.

This one is from the Josh Abbott Band. All net proceeds from this shirt will be donated by JABCares to credible organizations assisting in Hurricane Harvey relief. Please allow 2-3 weeks before this product ships.

All profits from this tee will be donated to help victims of the recent Texas hurricanes and floods through https://www.youcaring.com/victimsofhurricaneharvey-915053.

For this t-shirt all proceeds will be going directly to helping these people rebuild their lives after Hurricane Harvey has washed it way.

100% of proceeds from the sale of this t-shirt will be donated to aide disaster relief efforts.

Nickel & Suede is a wonderful Texas based small business from a wonderful blogger. A percentage of sales from now until September 2 will go to the areas effected by Hurricane Harvey. And the leather earrings are some of my favorites!

You can also donate $10 directly to the Red Cross by texting HARVEY to 90999. Any little bit helps. No help is too small and you have no idea what your donation will mean to the people and animals effected by Hurricane Harvey!

Thank you,

Laci
