Caroline's Room

Caroline is 9 and full of opinions. She doesn't like anything girly, pink, sparkly or complicated. Her favorite color is blue, she adores all things Harry Potter and loves soccer. Putting her room together is a bit of a challenge for me because I want her to love it now, but I also want to make sure it's a room that can grow with her. I don't want to need to redo it in a year or two!

We went back and forth on color. I wanted to stick with a neutral color/base like grey and accentuate it. She wanted to paint it bright teal ;). We met in the middle and decided to go with a light blue on 2 walls and do an accent wall behind her bed with Artis Wall. Her fourth wall will be built ins.

I think bedding was the only thing we could agree on! We both wanted all white, fluffy bedding. Her bed has a linen upholstered headboard so white will be great and I promised her we could accentuate with fun throw pillows in all shades of blue. She also picked out some superhero sheets from Pottery Barn Kids. I love this girl. She's my superhero!

We're putting in built in bookshelves on either side of her window and she will have a window seat underneath, but I also wanted to give her a fun cozy reading nook to curl up in during one of our crazy Texas rain storms (we're actually having one right now!).

This chair is from World Market and it's currently 30% off! I also picked up a stool to pop her feet up on from World Market.

We also added a bench from World Market (currently 30% off!) at the end of her bed for a fun pop of color. I'm sure it will end up being a great place to ditch the laundry I ask her to put up!

Her bedside tables and dresser are from Restoration Hardware Baby, and I just adore them! The color is such a wonderful silver. They are the Charlotte line which is no longer made, but they have some beautiful options.

In her walk-in closet she wanted a chandelier. Maybe she's more girly than I think! We both agreed on this wooden one from World Market in shades of blue and teal. I can't wait to get it up!

The kids both have carpeting in their rooms (the only rooms that do). They wanted the cozy feeling of carpet, but they'll have area rugs over top to take away from the boring wall to wall look. I wanted something neutral in case her favorite color does change in a year or so! I went with this one from RugsUSA who is always having an amazing sale:

I've picked up a few fun things to bring in her love of Harry Potter from Pottery Barn Teen and a few pillows from Target's Opal House line to accentuate with. What's funny is between the rental townhouse and the apartment I haven't seen some of the things in months, and I can't even remember what I bought! It's going to be like Christmas morning when we move in and I get to unpack all the boxes! Here's what I do remember:

I hope it's a room she loves, can grow into, dream in and feel safe in for a long time to come!
