Have you tried the Morpholio app yet? It's so much fun! You save all your favorite pictures to your phone or snap a few pictures of your house, go to the app, arrange them and voila! Instant mood board! You can email or pin it or share it on virtually any site. It's great! It's my new carpool hobby. Last year I had to walk the girls in and out of school. It was cute in a very Leave It To Beaver way but in the Houston heat (hello boob sweat) or Texas rainstorms (hello frizzy hair) it was anything but cute. It actually poured at pick up yesterday, and I was dry in the minivan. I was so thankful! You can download Morpholio from the app store for hours of carpool fun!
I'll share a few boards that I've made over the next few days. The first one up is the study.

I want this room to be slightly masculine but to make sure it still ties into the rest of the house. The built in along the back wall will be floor to ceiling and done in Sherwin Williams Naval. The walls will be the same color.

It'll look something similar to these but without the wallpapered ceiling because I'm not sure how I'd feel about that in a year or two. . .

The lighting will pull in the foyer chandelier in addition to adding in brass that will be accented with the side table between the chairs and the artwork frames. I also was drawn to this one because my husband, Adam, was an Olympic shot putter for quite some time and the center of this light fixture reminds me of a shotput. It had to come home with me!

Our desk is from Pottery Barn and has a bit of a rustic feel. We actually bought this desk a few years ago, and I'm thrilled that it will work in this house. I'm going to pair a leather chair with it for a masculine touch.
Two chairs will be tucked into the side of the room for extra seating and a little table will be between them to place a drink or papers on. I wanted something neutral and lighter to play off the dark colors of the walls and built ins.
The rug is going to tie in the blues of the room and add a pop of orange for a fun splash. Every home I've done for us before this one has been big on neutrals. I'm trying to push outside of my comfort zone and add color to each room in order to liven it up and make it feel more personal and less like a hotel!
The art work for this room will be a touch of home for me. An artist from Athens, GA, Steve Penley, is who I knew I wanted on these walls. I found this Abraham Lincoln picture, and it spoke to me. We also have a lovely Thomas Jefferson bust that was a gift from my in laws when I graduated from law school that will be play nicely with Lincoln perfect.
Next up: the dining room!
