Insulated and All Walled Up

Two weeks ago we received insulation! It went in quickly. It only took about two days. Then the inspector came out, and there were a few small things that needed to be modified. They needed to take care of the changes on Tuesday or Wednesday and the inspector was coming back on Thursday. Well, the inspector came on Thursday, and nothing had been fixed yet. Grrr. It set us back another week. The good news is they did get it all taken care of, and we were able to move on to dry wall!

Here's the beginning stages of the dry wall. It's been so humid here in Texas the past few weeks- it seriously feels like August- so it took a bit longer for the dry wall mud to dry. They were actually working today- on a Sunday!- to smooth out the walls. Our trim package for the crown molding and the doors was set to be delivered on Monday, but our builder said they are going to push that back to Friday due to the humidity.

And now the drywall is up, and the texturing process will begin tomorrow! I don't love texture, but I do love progress!

We are finally on the schedule for the cabinet makers! Mark says it usually takes about a few weeks to get the cabinets made, but since we have a few extra built ins, and an extra island, it'll probably take about a month. If that's the case then our cabinets will be delivered and installed the first of November. Mark says 75 days from cabinet installation plus 2 weeks for touch ups is a good guess for a closing date. That puts us the end of January. I'm ok with that I guess. We'll miss out on qualifying for the homestead exemption, but we've rented this apartment through February 11th so we have to pay that regardless. It almost evens out. At least that's what I'm telling myself! I just really, really want to close by the end of January. I would love to have a week or so to get electricians in to switch out lighting and some painting done etc and then have a few days to set up the kids rooms. I've found that moving is so much easier on everyone when the kids rooms and playroom are set up and good to go.

It's starting to finally look like a real house!
