Foyer Love

Oh how I love this foyer! I had a really hard time trying to decide what to do with these walls. I didn't want to do sconces because in order to make an impact they would need to be quite substantial, and that isn't my thing. Plus I love the chandelier that will go in here, and I didn't want anything to compete with it. I don't have enough artwork (and likely never will) to make an impact on these walls. Lauren, my 7 year old, offered to make me some art. That was honestly looking like the front runner of ideas for awhile!

One day I was searching the ends of the internet and I saw it. . . the answer was trim and molding! Our builder wasn't totally thrilled with this because of the labor involved, and the quote reflected that. Yikes! But I'm so glad I did it! We painted it white. I have a lot of white going on right now. Once we get into the house a few things will change, but right now I'm actually loving the clean and bright look!

Without further ado here's the stages of foyer love!

Plain foyer walls:

With the wood up (it's white oak):

View from the second floor landing:

View from the front door:

And now it's all painted and dreamy!

It's starting to feel like a real house! We are getting cabinets in today (I've been over twice so far- whoops ;). They're going to measure for countertops and tile should go in next week assuming we aren't thrown off too much by Thanksgiving.
