I See Stone!

We finally have the beginning of stone! They started work on the outside, and also our fireplace stone was delivered and they've prepped the fireplaces. It's so fun! The great crew asks me lots of questions when we go by that I usually have no answer to and have to google a lot before I give an answer. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of mortar finish!
Our only issue so far is that the electrical outlet and multimedia plugs are too low. I don't want the TV so high that we're hurting our necks to see it but I need the mantle high enough that we don't set our stockings on fire! You know, for all those times in Houston we have a roaring fire! They also need 2 in of clearance below the plugs for the mantle. They're having to move it up 18 in. That's how far off it was. Whoops. It seems to be an easy fix though.
Here's our current situation:

Also I attempted to decorate the apartment for Christmas. This was about how it went. . .

How did those Whos down in Whoville hang their stockings on a string?! Close quarters make for a cozy, sparsely decorated apartment. But the Christmas lights somehow feel that much warmer!
Also we heard from the mortgage company today, and Toll Brothers told them that our closing date in January 18th. That's news to us! I'm so excited though! That's a lot closer than I thought it would be. I was actually thinking early March and had even talked to the apartment complex about extending our lease. Fingers crossed, but I'm not counting my chicken just yet!
We get countertops at the end of the week! This is so much fun!
